HCAR hosted a summit in mid-November on public and private investment opportunities for technology and life sciences companies. This event was a huge success with nearly 100 attendees representing 40 companies from the tri-state region coming to HCAR to hear about the current investment climate.

Welcome HCAR new tenant, ClawNor
The Hershey Center for Applied Research would like to welcome its newest tenant, ClawNor, an early-stage company focused on producing reagents for diagnosis and therapy of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. ClawNor was incorporated in 1996 and until recently was focused on consulting services.

HCAR Resident Apeliotus Wins 1st Place in Ben Franklin Venture Idol Competition
HCAR Resident Apeliotus Wins 1st Place in Ben Franklin Venture Idol Competition
It was similar to the popular television show American Idol, except with entrepreneurs instead of vocalists. During "Ben Franklin Venture Idol," three early-stage company entrepreneurs seeking funding presented pitches to a panel of investors and the audience. Led by Venture Idol emcee, Pennsylvania State Treasurer Rob McCord, the investors asked questions, the audience voted, and Apeliotus Vision Science was named the winning "Ben Franklin Venture Idol."

LSGPA-Supported Technology Suites Expansion Project Complete and Nearly Fully Leased
Having experienced a consistent stream of demand for laboratory and office facilities for early-stage companies, the Hershey Center for Applied Research, with grant support from the Life Sciences Greenhouse of Central PA (LSGPA), recently completed the expansion of the existing Technology Suites facilities located on the 1st floor of Building One.

Going Down Under at AusBiotech 2009
Jack Atchason, Director of Business Development for the Hershey Center for Applied Research, attended the AusBiotech 2009 International Showcase in October as the delegate for the South Central life sciences industry community.
