Tissue Proteomic Seminar at the Hershey Center for Applied Research

HERSHEY, PA – February 10, 2009 – The Hershey Center for Applied Research (HCAR) announced today that it will hold a seminar on Tissue Proteomics on Wednesday, February 12, 2009 from noon to 1:30 p.m. The featured speaker at this lunch event will be David Krizman, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer and Scientific Co-Founder of Gaithersburg, MD-based Expression Pathology, Inc., the co-sponsor for the event. Dr. Krizman will cover protein biomarker analysis and measurement in formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue using mass spectrometry. Expression Pathology Inc. (EPI) is a leader in tissue microproteomics. The company has developed tools and technologies to microdissect formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue, and analyze and quantitate the protein content using mass spectrometry.

Data will be shown illustrating applications, including global proteomic profiling to identify differential protein expression, and quantitative analysis of specific protein biomarkers. Recent publications have been related to its tissue proteomic applications as they related to endometrial cancer, progression of oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma, lung cancer metastasis, as well as direct measurement of Her2 and other proteins protein biomarkers.
