HCAR Hosts Grand Opening for Newest Tenant: vivoPharm
On Tuesday, Sept. 13, at noon, Hershey Center for Applied Research will host a ribbon cutting ceremony in celebration of its newest tenant, vivoPharm, which will open its doors for U.S. operations during the event.
vivoPharm is a contract research organization from Adelaide, South Australia, that provides clinically predictive, integrated preclinical services in different disease areas (with a focus on cancer) to the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. The company will become the second Australian organization to expand its facilities to HCAR in the past two years and is planning to hire 13 people to grow its facility within its first year of operation.
“The opening of our facility in Hershey represents the company’s biggest undertaking since our founding in Adelaide, South Australia almost eight years ago,” Dr. Ralf Brandt, CEO and managing director of vivoPharm, said. “The size of the U.S. biotech and pharma market, the quality of the research and drug development activities performed in the region, and the size and quality of vivoPharm’s future Hershey facility represent inflection points in the development of our company. We are very exited about this opportunity and the future we envision for our facility and the company as a whole.”
vivoPharm is the second Australian organization to open a U.S.-based facility at HCAR in the past two years. ide+, an Australian group that provides turnkey product development services for early stage to mature companies in medical devices, manufacturing, gaming, and other applications has had an office at HCAR for nearly one year.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be preceded by a brief networking period and followed by a tour of vivoPharm’s facility and lunch. Individual interviews are available with vivoPharm CEO and Managing Director Dr. Ralf Brandt and HCAR Director of Business Development Jack Atchason.
